Optional: Shave
If you feel uncomfortable letting someone else trim your underarm hair, you can choose to shave or trim your hair to a little shorter in length before your appointment. If you’re good with letting the technician trim or shave the area for you, don’t fret. Sit back, relax and let them do the job.
You’ll need shorter hair because as the light beam travels through the hair shaft, a lot of energy is being absorbed along the way. Short hair allows enough light to pass it through it and damage the follicle.
Avoid sun exposure
Even though SHR hair removal allows customers with darker skin tones to undergo treatment, staying away from the sun as much as possible can minimize any possible complications, given that sun-kissed skin is much more sensitive to heat energy.
If you can't pass that, do all the tanning you need at least 2 weeks before your treatment, making sure you don’t become complacent after – use sunscreen whenever you head outdoors, avoiding direct sunlight for at least another 2 weeks.
Try not to exercise immediately
Exercising generates natural body heat, and since treated areas are going to be slightly more sensitive, it is best to avoid sweating or exercising at least 24 hours after the session. This is to prevent the hair follicles from opening, putting them at a risk of infection.
Attend your sessions consistently
Your sessions are typically spread out evenly over a period of time to help you achieve the best possible results, so don’t skip on your appointments if you don’t want to see your efforts going down the drain! Although you’ll still see results, it will come much slower if you don’t make time for your appointments and decide to come only as and when you like - it most likely will take a longer time.
